38 year old Manual Worker with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome. He had these symptoms for approximately 10 – 15 years!
He tried splints in the past to no avail. He was getting paraesthesia and numbness in the thumb, index, middle and ring finger. He had dexterity issues on both sides and he felt that both are fairly similar although perhaps the left is worse than the right clinically.
At 4 weeks following bilateral carpal tunnel releases, my patient is extremely happy with his results. His grip strength on the right is 62 kilograms and his left is 55 kilograms already!
He is back to full work duties and he has been driving for three weeks. He has normal function of the abductor pollicis brevis, normal sensation and wounds are not particularly sensitive.
The patient has been discharged and back to all of his daily activities.
